Welcome to Dungeon Crawls!
Welcome to a new type of instanced zone – the Dungeon Crawl! What better way to have fun, advance your Slayer achievements, and gain bonus loot? ALL the rares and bosses will be there, with no placeholders! Best of all, even if a rare mob fails to drop the piece of awesome you were hoping for, it could show up at the end in your bonus loot!
When you defeat all the rare mobs and a percentage of the non-rare mobs, you are awarded a special Advanced Loot window with additional drops, and a mote drop is always guaranteed! Your instance token is also refunded upon successful completion.
Dungeon Crawls are a great way to learn a zone without mobs constantly spawning around you – if you mow it down, it stays down! Mobs and bosses do not respawn in a Dungeon Crawl, except for dynamic spawns in certain zones, such as the Amygdalans in Plane of Fear.
Starting a Dungeon Crawl
All indoor dungeons and the planes are available for Dungeon Crawl. Click on the Difficulty/Instance button at the lower right of your screen. It is a dark red square with a 0 as default, located above the EQL button.
In the pop-up window, in the right-hand side, click on Normal, then select “Dungeon Crawl” under type, set it to solo or group, and select the difficulty level.
If it’s your first time in a zone, you may want to select a lower difficulty level to allow you to explore with less pressure, especially if you have not tackled the boss mobs there before. Learn the pathways and strategies, then ramp up your risk vs. reward on your next run!
The Task Overlay Window
The Task Overlay automatically appears when you first enter the Dungeon Crawl. This tracks the number of rare and percentage of regular mobs.
Don’t like where it shows up in your UI? Right click on the very top of the window and deselect "click through,” and you'll be able to move the window and resize it!
If you accidentally closed your Task Overlay Window, just type /tasko in your chat window and it will reappear.
Most rare mobs that you need to defeat will appear on your default EQL map (tap M to open and close your map), but only when you are within a certain radius, and as long as they are not naturally invisible. Make sure you explore every corner of the zone!
Classes with the Tracking skill, Rangers, Bards and Druids, will see rares from a longer distance.

The Dungeon Crawl Advanced Loot Window
Huzzah, you made it to the end! Your bonus loot will automatically display in the Advanced Loot window that pops up. While a mote drop is always guaranteed, higher difficulty levels will result in higher level motes!
If you don’t see a loot window pop up, you may have filters applied in the Advance Looting system for merging, auto-sell, auto-store, etc. You can still see the list of items you received for completion in your chat log!
The clock is always ticking!
Dungeon Crawls currently stay open for three hours, but be aware that if the servers go offline, your instance will be wiped, so best to avoid Update days.
A Dungeon Crawl can be a serious time commitment, especially for the Planar zones, so plan your playtime accordingly! This is another reason to set your first run to a lower difficulty level.
If you have to leave the instanced zone for any reason, you can get back to it. Zone into the regular version of the zone, click on the difficulty indicator at lower right, and select “Enter Instance” and you’re back in the Crawl!
Pack for the journey!
Just as you might take a few snacks and a beverage to your desk for a long gaming run, be sure to bring enough food and drink to last your character through the crawl.
If your loadout does not include the see invisible ability, it’s smart to pack a few of those potions along to help you spot hidden rare mobs in some zones!
