The invitation has been sent and Lord Everling eagerly awaits your arrival.
Today, Nektropos Castle arrives in EverQuest Legends: a new outdoor zone, an endgame dungeon, a hidden starting area, and a new playable race. This is our first of many planned updates to the game to introduce major new content to EQ Legends based on classic EverQuest lore.
What's new
- Lake Nerius. A new open zone and the approach to the castle. The land has become overgrown since the incident in the castle.
- Nektropos Castle. An endgame dungeon with more than 20 named creatures to slay, all set inside the Everling family’s home.
- The Nektropos Undercroft. A hidden starting area under the castle, made into a home by people the household have never noticed.
- Ayr'Haeth. A new playable race with the Undercroft as its home.
A house in mourning
The Everlings are one of the great houses of Norrath, and for years the family kept a curious, glittering collection of rare things. Then something broke. A servant of the household, worn down by years of abuse, took Lord Rikantus Everling's prized enchanted sword and murdered all seven of his daughters.
Lord Rikantus went mad. He is now raising the bodies of the dead.
His surviving son, Lord Ollix Everling, is trying to keep the whole thing quiet, and he needs help from people who will not talk. He has sent out an invitation. If you can find your way inside, he will meet you there.
EverQuest II players may recognize this house. In that game, Nektropos Castle is a cursed ruin and the Everling daughters are ghosts, five centuries on. EverQuest Legends is set when it all began.
Getting inside

The castle doors are locked, and you will need to earn your way in. Access begins in Lake Nerius with Retainer Ozval, who manages the affairs of the castle and its lord. His questline leads onward, including a trip to the Plane of Hate.
Once you are inside, the main quest runs the length of the castle and all of its bosses, and ends with two high-end rewards. We will leave the rest for you to find.
Meet the Ayr'Haeth

The Ayr'Haeth have been living under Nektropos Castle for a very long time, and the lord above them does not know they are there.
- Cursed Heritage: 10% increased effectiveness of taps and runes. 20% reduced base health regen when outdoors in the day.
- Life Tracking: Increased sensory range for living NPCs on your map.
- Also: Hide, Sneak, and Infravision.
- Starting out: A new race, the Ayr'Haeth, also known as Half Dark Elves, will be available for the first time. With this update we are introducing the concept of race levels in addition to class levels. While existing races will all remain level 50, any new races we add to the game, including the Ayr'Haeth, will start at level 1.
- Unlocking: You can unlock the Ayr’Haeth as a playable race by completing a new quest starting in Lake Nerius.
Halloween in Norrath
The season is running alongside the launch, through Nov 3rd.
- A free Werewolf pet illusion is available in the in-game shop for the duration of the event.
- A new Ayr'Haeth-themed quest in Lake Nerius. Complete this seasonal quest before the Halloween event ends to earn a free pet illusion of your choice!
- More pet illusions are available in the Marketplace, including the Undead Frog, Scarecrow, Skeleton, Vampire Bat, Spectre, Gelatinous Cube, Zombie, and Mummy.
Come in
Lord Ollix Everling formally invites you to Nektropos Castle. We look forward to your arrival.
See you in Norrath.
